IMPACT OF RESEARCH ACTIVITY

Dear participants,

On the occasion of the celebration of University Days, 2026 edition, and the organization of the dedicated Annual Conference, during which we mark excellence and innovation in medical research and education, the performance competition “Impact of Research Activity” will take place, structured around five nominations.

The “Excellence in Research” nomination is addressed to research and teaching-research staff. Articles published in 2025 in Scopus-indexed Q1/Q2 journals will be taken into consideration, as well as the number of citations of these papers as of the date of data extraction from the system (01.09.2026).

This nomination targets young researchers who will rank at the top of the University research performance classification.

The competition is addressed to the following categories:

student;
master’s student;
doctoral student;
resident physician.

The evaluation will be carried out in accordance with the criteria established in the Concept of the System for Recording and Rating the Research Activity of Students and Residents within IP USMF “Nicolae Testemițanu” of the Republic of Moldova.

To participate in the Research4Youth competition, the application file must include:

Curriculum Vitae (CV);
abstract of the doctoral project (maximum 2 pages);
proposal for an additional research component associated with the doctoral thesis (maximum 1 page).

Additional research component

The additional research component represents an objective, analysis, method, biomarker, experiment, or direction of investigation that:

is relevant to the topic of the doctoral thesis;
can be carried out using the research infrastructure and platforms of USMF “Nicolae Testemițanu”;
is not included in the initial thesis plan or significantly extends it;
has the potential to generate new scientific results and add value to the doctoral project.

Proposal description

The proposal description (maximum 1 page) must include:

the title of the proposal;
justification of its relevance to the doctoral thesis;
the proposed objective;
the USMF platform, technology, or infrastructure to be used;
the expected results and the potential contribution to the development of the thesis.

The application file must be submitted electronically to conferinta.anuala@usmf.md, with the subject line Research4Youth.

All proposals will be evaluated by a selection committee. Based on the evaluation of the submitted files, 10 finalists will be selected and invited to present their proposal during the Research4Youth session through a 4-minute pitch, followed by questions from the jury.

The final evaluation will take into account both the quality of the written proposal, in accordance with the criteria above, and its presentation during the pitch session.

The “Performance in Research Projects and Grants” nomination aims to recognize performance achieved through attracting funds for research activity, as well as through participation in national and international project competitions.

The evaluation will take into account the following indicators:

the amount of funds attracted from research projects won in 2025;
the number of international projects applied for and won.

The “Publication of the Year” nomination aims to recognize publications with the highest Impact Factor / CiteScore in 2025.

The results of the competitions will be announced at the Gala of Laureates, organized on the third day of the Conference.
